Truly Listen

"The artist doesn't see things as they are, but as he is." ~~ Anonymous

As a musician I watch closely to see how other musicians perform, act, react, etc. Even Eric Clapton says he started out copying the greats until his own style began to emerge.

Through the years I've been to many concerts. Only two performers really stick out after all this time: Bob Seger and Mac Powell of "Third Day." Both were very real with their performances and their audience. You could identify with them. It was like they really enjoyed and understood why they were on the platform. It was more than a show. You were drawn into the message they were trying to convey.

I do enjoy a deeper meaning. I am an old school balladeer. Lyrics matter. To truly listen and think about what you are thinking about. Now, that's a good thing!
